Christmas Island - Dive A Natural Wonder

Christmas Island is often compared to the Galapagos because of its isolation - Place where you can experience amazing wall dives, dolphins, whale sharks and a variety of shark species. Christmas Island rises dramatically up from the tropical depths of the Indian Ocean. The name itself is a magnet for many and one of the "must go destinations"
Christmas Island is 2600km northwest of Perth and only 360km of the coast of Java, Indonesia.
63% of the island is dedicated to National Park and has a number of species found only on this outpost. What awaits below the surface is arguably one of the best kept secrets in the world, with pristine coral wall dives and perfect visibility this is an experience worth every penny.

Christmas Island boasts endless kilometers of spectacular wall diving and a unique and varied ecosystem. Christmas Island is actually the top of a volcano that rises nearly 3000m up from the depths and is surrounded by a reef that many places just located 20m from shore. The most impressive of this destination is the seemingly endless visibility that you can experience by staring into the depths on the edge of the reef. Christmas Island attracts a number of marine large predatory fish like barracuda, tuna and whole seven shark species can be observed in the waters around Christmas Island.

    Whale Shark & ??Mantas
From November till late April there are great opportunities to experience the whale sharks and manta and during this period it is not uncommon to see several of these ocean giants together.

    Other classic dive sites:
Thunder Cliff Cave - one of e dives on Christmas Island. The cave is formidable and impressive and you could easily accommodate three double-decker buses in the cave. There are air pockets inside the cave and it is actually possible to explore parts of the cave on foot.
Pig Rock - one of the dive sites located farthest away but it is well worth the journey ( about 45 minutes) boat trip out here. Pig Rock is located in the northwestern part of Christmas Island and the wall here runs from about 10m down to 80m and is a place that attracts a plethora of predatory fish and is an excellent place to just lie quietly watching life around you.
White West Beach - is one of the few white sand beaches on Christmas Island and is a photographer's perfect location and great for macro diving.
