Itinerary

The walls, reefs, pinnacles and coral gardens of Solomon Islands support an amazing variety and quantity of sea creatures. The varieties of fish are staggering. Within a few yards of each other, individually or in schools can be seen anemone fish, angel fish, butterfly fish, humphead parrot fish and other reef dwellers while just a short distance away schools of barracuda, big-eye trevally and other pelagics cruise in the blue waters.

Popular with underwater photographers and those with a keen eye for the small and unusual critters are "muck dives". The amount and variety of sealife is astounding. Manta shrimp, ghost pipefish, and pygmy seahorses are only a few examples of what you may find.

Day 1: Join in Honiara
Embarkation is normally between 16-17:00, but we recommend that you arrive 1 day earlier in case of delayed flights and luggage. Arrival transfer to your hotel or ship is included. DYKKEbazaar can arrange accommodation in Honiara if required.

Day 2 - 9: Diving the Solomon Islands (Full board)
Solomon Islands consists of hundreds of islands and groups of islands. There are 3 main island groups that we dive: Florida Islands, Russell Islands, and Marovo Lagoon in the New Georgia Group. Each of these island groups consists of dozens of islands and a vast array of dive sites. We also dive an isolated island known as Mary Island. 10 night trips may or may not go to Marovo depending on conditions. We do not have set itineraries. There are so many dive sites in each area that we are able to go where the best diving is at any given time, and also cater to the type of diving that the guests on board prefer. In all cases rest assured that we will do our utmost to offer you the best diving available at the time.

Day 10: Cruise ends in Honiara (B)
Disembarkation is normally around 08:00 so any flight departing after 12:00 should be OK.

Flights: DYKKEbazaar offers great airfares from Europe and Scandinavia to Honiara. Normally all our airfares includes min 30 kilo luggage and stop over possibilities en-route. We can also combine other islands in the region with our various airpasses and special rates - for any inquiry send us an e-mail to dive@dykkebazaar.no
About the ship: Bilikiki offers 10 deluxe cabins, 8 with a full double bed and a single above and 2 with twin single beds and no bunk. All cabins have private showers and toilets - see deck plan
Water temperature: Water and Air temperature are pretty much constant, and vary only 2 - 3 degrees all year long. Water temperature is normally 82 - 85F although it may get as low as a chilly 80, and as high as a balmy 87, but this is unusual. Most divers are comfortable in a 2mm wet suit, or a combination lycra and shorty suit. Please keep in mind that although the water and air is warm, if you are doing 4 - 5 dives a day some thermal protection is recommended.
Nitrox: Is available at a cost of USD$20.00 per diving day. Persons wishing to use Nitrox must be certified in it’s use.
About the diving: Most diving need not be deep as the reefs start close to the surface. Often the reefs drop off gradually allowing you to explore extensively at relatively shallow depths. You will find walls, however, often in
close conjunction to a reef, making it excellent for computer assisted diving. Just a word of caution. Solomon Islands is in a remote part of the word.
Visibility: Will range from 22 - 40m, with occasional sites with much better visibility, and yes, you will have dives with visibility less than 75 feet. The Solomon Island waters are very nutrient rich. They support the entire food chain from microscopic creatures to major predators. Because of this, visibility may be less than that of some other world famous dive sites, but for this same reason you will find a multitude of large and small critters to observe and photograph. In some cases visibility may only be 10 or 15 feet, because of all the fish blocking your view!
